Tending to my garden (self care)

BCF Pink Outing Aug 2025

This week, I was invited by the Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) to hold a self-care workshop for a very special group of volunteers.

The session was called “Tending to My Garden” — and while it may sound soft or simple, it was anything but that.

We spoke little. We moved gently.

But in those quiet moments, we explored something many of us forget in the rhythm of giving- to come home to ourselves.

Through a light-hearted activity and a guided visualisation, we reflected on the 4 kinds of energy that keep us going:

 • 💪 Body (physical)

 • 💛 Heart (emotional)

 • 🧠 Mind (mental)

 • 🌸 Spirit (purpose & joy)

These are the roots of our wellbeing. And yet, it’s often the caregivers, the steady ones, who forget to water their own roots.

The room held laughter, stillness, and maybe even a few tears.

Each person left with a tiny 4 petals reminder — a quiet promise to care for their inner garden just a little more.

Thank you BCF for seeing your volunteers not just for what they do, but for who they are.

And for giving them space to rest, reflect, and reconnect — even just for an afternoon.

Here’s to tending to the gardens within us… and letting ourselves bloom, without rush, without guilt.
